Our Inner Resources

Our Inner Resources Major(R)Khalid Nasr
When people think about pursuing something, they usually first take a look at their resources to determine whether or not they can do it. But where most people fail in this process is when they look at their resources to determine whether or not they can do it, they are usually taking stock of the wrong resources. Most people immediately look at money. “How much money do I have?” they ask. Sure, we need to know how much money we have, but money is not the greatest resource. In fact, there are a few other resources that are all more important, and certainly more impacting, than money. Take a look through the following and see how you do. If you have money, but don’t have these, you will not go far. If you have these but lack in the oney department, you can still pursue and achieve your dreams: 1.Desire: Everything that comes from life comes from wanting it. Really wanting it. Do you have desire in you for something? A fire in the belly that cannot be put out no matter what? This is what you must have. True burning desire for what you want. This is not a wish or something you would take if it came along. This is something deep in your heart. Something you long for, something you have always longed for, and something you will continue to long for. In many ways it is what you feel you were created for. Your destiny. And it is buried within you and cannot be taken away. Do you have this kind of desire for what you seek? Then you will accomplish it. Very few persons, comparatively, know how to Desire with sufficient intensity. They do not know what it is to feel and manifest that intense, eager, longing, craving, insistent, demanding, ravenous Desire. 2.Vision: Robert Schuller once said, “You never have a money problem, only a vision problem.” Well said. If you have vision for something, you will attract the money needed. Vision is that grand spectacular plan that sees the big picture, paints it for others, and draws them along. Do you have a vision for what it is you want to accomplish? Can you see it even if it isn’t here yet? Can you hear it? Smell it? How big is your vision? Is it a tiny little thing that lacks a compelling nature? Or is it something so big that it acts like a giant magnet to everything around it? If you have an enormous vision to see your plan come to fruition, it will, no matter how much money you may or may not have. 3.Persistence:“Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.Calvin Coolidge It is true that most people who achieve something that others don’t do so simply because they tried longer. Not necessarily harder, just longer. So often the prize is lost because we do not persevere. Wealth, talent, genius, and education are good, but cannot and will not take the place of the one who is tenaciously persistent. Do you persist when the going gets tough? When it looks like the goal will be a little further off and a little longer in arriving do you quit and go elsewhere or do you buckle down and attack with even more diligence? If you will persist, you will achieve your dream, whether you have money or not. 4.Guts: Courage, Bravery, Nerve, Valor. Do you have them? Can you look risk in the eye and not blink? The men and women of this world who have accomplish tremendous things were not handed those things. I have found that every single on e of them had moments of pure unadulterated fear. Fear of loss. Fear of humiliation. Fear of failure. But what separated them from the rest is that they had the guts to go forward anyway. When others slunk off into the distance, they forged ahead. It didn’t matter how much money they had. They had a dream - a big dream - and the courage to go for it, no matter what the cost. "Courage is getting away from death by continually coming within an inch of it." G. K. Chesterton What is your greatest resource? It isn’t money. There are things far greater s resources for you to have. Desire Vision Persistence Guts
Do you have these? Then you have all the resources you will ever need to live the life you have always dreamed of!

Price of Success

The Price of Success: Major (R)Khalid Nasr
The price tag of success include: 1.Hard work:There's no way around this--you can't fulfill your career dream without a lot of blood, sweat, tears, and maybe even a little elbow grease. You also might have to spend time--perhaps large quantities of time--working diligently at jobs you don't particularly like in order to prepare yourself for the job you want. 2.Learning:Doing what you love might require you to acquire some new skills, polish existing abilities or earn another degree. Are you willing to devote the time, money and energy to making that happen? 3.Discipline:It takes focus and commitment to pursue your goal without getting sidetracked or giving up. Success doesn't just happen. You have to be intentional about it, and that takes discipline. 4.Change:At the surface, this might not seem like a significant price. After all, you wouldn't be engaging in this exercise if you didn't want a change in your life. And yet, as we all know, change isn't easy. It can cause stress, anxiety, uncertainty, and a host of other uncomfortable emotions. 5.Emotional stamina:On your way toward doing what you love, you're going to stumble and you might even take a few hard falls. When that happens, you've got to have the intestinal fortitude to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and get going again. Do you? As you think about the price of doing what you want to do, remember that the specifics vary from job to job.Don't wait until everything is perfect to begin because everything will never be perfect. Don't put it off until tomorrow because tomorrow you'll be tempted to put it off until the next day. Just start. And as you begin, remember these three truths about the end result: 1.Doing what you want to do will be different than you imagined.2.It will be more difficult than you ever imagined.3.It will be better than you ever imagined.

Seven Tips To Enjoy Life

7 Tips To Enjoy Life : Major(R)Khalid Nasr
Here are some thoughts for finding and experiencing joy in your life: 1.Know your purpose:Nothing will bring you joy more than knowing what it is that you are about on this earth. Not knowing bring sadness, wondering, fear and lack of fulfillment.Above all, find out what your unique purpose is here on this earth – then fulfill it! 2.Live purposefully:This is a follow up to number one.It is one thing to know your purpose, but then you need to live according to that purpose. This is a matter of priorities.Let your actions and schedule reflect your purpose.Don’t react to circumstances and let them cause you to live without your purpose fully in site.Living without your purpose will cause frustration.Living purposefully will bring you deep satisfaction and joy!
3.Stretch yourself:Don’t settle into the status quo. That will leave you unfulfilled.Always look to stretch yourself.Whatever you are doing, stretch yourself to do more! Stretching yourself will break the limits youhave set for yourself and will cause you to find joy in your expanded horizons! 4.Give more than you take:It brings happiness to accumulate. It brings joy to give away.Sure, getting the car you worked hard for will bring you a sense of satisfaction and even happiness. But it won’t bring you joy. Giving something away to the less fortunate will bring you deep, abiding joy. 5.Surprise yourself, and others too:The words here are spontaneity and surprise!Every once in a while, do the unexpected. It will cause everybody to sit back and say,“Wow, where did that come from?”It will put a little joy in your life, and theirs. 6.Indulge yourself sometimes:To much indulgence and you are caught in the happiness trap.Looking for the next purchase, celebration ,etc ,to bring you a little “happiness high.”But if you will allow yourself an infrequent indulgence as a reward for a job well done and a life well lived, you will appreciate the indulgence and experience the joy of it. 7.Laugh a lot:Most people are just too serious. We need to laugh a lot! Learn to laugh daily, even if you have to learn to laugh in bad situations. This life is to be enjoyed!

Enhancing Our Capabilities

Enhancing our Capabilities : Major(R)Khalid Nasr
In today’s fast-paced life, the wins usually go to those with exceptional skills and abilities. Here are some ways to accelerate our abilities, thus enabling us to achieve greater and greater things: 1.Become dissatisfied with your current state: Growth for growth’s sake is good. Those who will achieve much are those who say to themselves, “I want to grow. I want to be better. And I am willing to do what it takes to get there. This current state is not enough!” This dissatisfaction will create for you an insatiable drive to do what it takes to get your abilities to the next level. 2.Visualize the benefits of increased abilities: Put them at the forefront of your mind. This will saturate your mind with the motivation that it will take for you to do what it takes to increase your abilities. What good will come out of my increased ability? How will I be better off as well as the others around me? The answers to these questions act as the carrot before the horse, moving you forward. 3.Understand your weaknesses: If you want to improve, one of the best ways is to start with some area that you aren’t particularly good at. Sometimes it is easier to improve something you aren’t good at that something you are. Take some time to consider what areas you are weakest in and focus in on them for a while. The results will obviously be much more pronounced than getting better at something you have already somewhat mastered. 4.Attempt greater levels of what you are already good at: Another tact to take would be to stretch yourself in an area that you already have some skill and ability in. What areas do you excel in? Now understand that when you leave the weaker areas weak and make extraordinary gains in one area, then you will be moving more toward “specialist” rather than “generalist.” That is okay, but needs to fit in with your overall goals. 5.Commit time each day to improvement: Steady improvement is the way to go. In fact, you may not see improvement for days or weeks. You may feel like you are failing each time. The key is day in, day out, spending time working on improving. Even five minutes a day equals a half hour a week, 2 hours a month. That adds up! Remember, Practice, practice, practice. 6. Seek out and spend time with someone who has greater ability than you: One of the best things to do to increase your ability is hang out with people who are already more skilled than you. Watching, them, studying them, interacting with them, even competing with them will make you better. As in sports, to improve, you play with people better than you, not worse. They will raise you to a new level. 7.Take a class or hire a coach: Take a course at a local college or vocational institute. Take a class online. Hire one of the many coaches available today. Pick a specific skill you would like to improve upon and find someone who is a specialist in that area. At the very least, pick up some audio or videotapes to help you grow. 8.Be the tortoise, not the hare: Slow but sure. Take your time, do it right. Keep going in the right direction. Learn your craft correctly. Don’t give up quality for speed. The whole idea of acceleration is this way: Slow start, work up to high speeds, go the distance. Luckily life isn’t a sprint but a marathon!

Core Values of Successful People

Core Values of Successful People : Major(R)Khalid Nasr
Here are four core values of successful people that guarantee your success: 1.They are honest:The successful people are not dishonest.Neither are they corner-cutters .When you are confident of yourself and know that the best will turn out, you have no problem telling the truth at all times. This brings you to a place where people know the real you. It allows them to follow you with assurance. It strengthens relationships, upon which your success rests. Make a commitment to being honest and you make a commitment to your own success. 2.They are givers, not takers: The successful people have achieved extraordinarily. This includes world records, spiritual abundance, and material wealth. But they didn’t set out to go and get it at all costs.Instead, they set their minds and wills upon serving others the best they could. They realized one of the most universal principles in the world: you reap what you sow. They know that when the give to others, others give back. The reverse is true as well. When you take from others, they try to keep what you are trying to take.Make a commitment to being a giver and not a taker, and you are making a commitment to your own success. 3.They are hard workers: Very few people become successful without hard work.We desire success without work, but history shows that the people who achieve the most success have as a core value the desire to work hard. They work hard because they believe in hard work as an ethic and value. They know and appreciate that hard work produces character in them, excellence in their product, and satisfaction for those who benefit from their work.So they operate out of the value of hard work. Make a commitment to hard work and you make a commitment to your own success. 4.They do what is right:Successful people are people with a core, people with a rod of strength and integrity that runs right through them. It causes them to see that this world of ours needs people who will do what is right, play by the rules, fight for what is true . Make a commitment to doing what is right, and you make a commitment to your own success.

In Persuit of Happiness

In Persuit of Happiness : Major(R)Khalid Nasr
Happiness is the pursuit of many of us.In fact, we live for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.’But so many seem without happiness. Why is this? It is my contention that happiness is yours for the taking. That is, anyone can be happy if the choose to be… and if they know how to get it. So what does it take to bring us to a state of happiness? Here are a few thoughts to get you on your way: 1.Do not try to control circumstances:One of the biggest “happiness busters” I see is in the frustration people experience because circumstances have gone beyond their control. This is because their mind-set is that they should be somehow able to control circumstances. But let’s get this straight: You can’t! So the first thing you can do to give yourself happiness is to stop trying to control, or taking responsibility for circumstances that are outside of your control! 2.Understand that you can only control yourself:There is only one thing you can control in this world and that is yourself. You can’t control the weather, your kids or spouse, or anything for that matter outside of your own beliefs, thoughts, attitudes and actions. Focus all of your attention on developing yourself and doing what is right – controlling yourself while letting what will happen, happen – and you will find happiness opening up within you. 3.Decide what it is that you want out of life and then stick to it relentlessly:This is two parts: First, know what you want. Get real clear with yourself. Take a private retreat to be alone if you have to, but come to grips with what you want your life to look like. Secondly, devote yourself to that passion and do not be sidetracked. It is interesting to me how many options we have – good options – that if we pursue them they will actually crush our happiness because they will take us away from what will really make us happy. 4.Live for a legacy:We cannot be self-absorbed and live only for ourselves. Yes, we only control ourselves, but we can live for the betterment of others. Live your life in such a way that others are touched and you will find yourself feeling happiness in ways that you could never imagine. 5.Settle your finances:Whatever your financial goals are, get them! Having poor finances is one of the major causes of unhappiness. Now, some people are completely content on Rs30,0000 a year. Others need Rs200,0000 a year. That is okay. We all have different desires, needs, and goals. But the key is to know what you want your financial life to look like and then do what it takes to get there. Among the major things to do is to eliminate as much debt as possible, if not all! 6.Surround yourself with good friends:Good friend are such a blessing! I have some of the most intelligent, capable, successful, and caring friends a person could have. I have five or four people in my life that I completely trust and admire. When friendships are clicking, there is almost nothing that provides more happiness. Take time to develop your friendships. 7.Develop your primary love relationship:Marriage will show you both heaven and hell! Marriage, when it is going well will send you out the door each morning on cloud nine. When it isn’t going well, it affects every area of your life negatively. Do whatever you can – work hard – at developing your primary love relationship. The rewards of happiness you reap will be tremendios.Happiness is yours for the taking and you can develop your life in such a way as to be able to experience all of the happiness you can handle.
